History

Professor Albert J. Meyer, department of accounting at Natal University started the operations in 1975 under the name of Procount. In 1983 Procount commenced specialising in commercial short term insurance with 2 additional qualified partners to join the head office in Adderley Street, Cape Town.

During April 1985 Afrosure was launched and a separate office was established in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. Afrosure specialised in commercial group schemes.

1987 saw Delphisure group absorbing Procount, Afrosure and other Cape based insurance practices to form one of the largest independent commercial scheme brokers in RSA. Offices were opened in Gauteng and the group acquired its own buildings.

During the late 1980's international operations were cemented with a specialist division being formed to attend to re-insurance. In this decade the group grew by an average of 300 % per year and now not only offered services to clients, but also to fellow brokers and to local insurance companies. In the 1980’s, the speciality in service was focused on self-insurance solutions for large commercial and corporate clients. The turn of the century saw the introduction of Captive Insurance solutions for clients which has become a daily event.
